Intro
Topics covered in this Pharmacology June 2018 tutorial are:
Atrial Fibrillation
COPD
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Antidepressant overdose
Gastric ulcer
Under atrial fibrillation warfarin has been discussed extensively before, but there is inclusion of the new anti-coagulants in this question.
COPD has been covered previously but this time there is more discussion on the role of steroids and antibiotics and includes using the updated GOLD 2018 guidelines.
Rheumatoid arthritis has been covered previously but this time the newer terminology of 'csDMARD' is used with more extended discussion on biological DMARDs.
I do my best to give tips and guidance on how to answer the questions, but there are definitely points which most pharmacists would not have been able to get and I have had the benefit of time and access of resources to answer them to their completion. You do not need to get every point to pass!
Sometimes the questions are quite long and have a lot of points allocated to them, one good way of dealing with them is by breaking them down to small sub-questions, there is bound to be at least 1 point per sub question. I have given a few examples in this tutorial.
I have provided links for references, some of them are pretty good for further study so try and check them out.
As always please bear in mind the topics in this tutorial are not all the topics which might come up in the exam, make sure you do further revision of your own to cover other topics as well!
