Introduction
This is a tutorial for the Pharmacology December 2018 past paper.
Each question is worth 20 marks.
Question 1 is on oral anti-diabetic drugs and complements the DM question on insulin in the Pharmacy Practise Dec 2018 paper. The examiner has broken this question down into over ten subquestions, each one is worth 1-2 points. When this is done it you should take advantage of this because questions worth 1-2 points are easier to answer.
Question 2 is a relatively straightforward question on allergic rhinitis.
Question 3 goes over treatments for gout.
Question 4 is an advanced question on Immune Thrombocytopenia.
Question 5 is on overdoses. It covers a good selection of interesting scenarios and really tests your pharmacological knowledge.
Questions 1-4 are conditions which have an auto-immune component, you should have a good understanding of the pathology involved in auto-immune diseases.
There is also fair amount on renal pharmacy, you should revise your knowledge on the renal system.
You should also have a good understanding of the sympathomimetic and parasympathetic systems, and the drugs which are involved with them both endogenous and exogenous.

My answers are extended for your benefit but do not need to be as detailed for the exam, you can use your judgement.
